The New Jersey Future Educators Association (NJFEA) is pleased to announce its first Student Leadership Institute from October 12-14, 2012. The NJFEA Student Leadership Institute is being offered in collaboration with the Youth Leadership Tomorrow program sponsored by the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association/Foundation for Educational Administration (NJPSA/FEA). NJFEA's Student Leadership Institute will take place at Camp Bernie located in Port Murray, New Jersey. Students selected for this weekend program will work under the direction of highly trained professionals who will introduce effective leadership skills for participants to develop student-driven service projects to enhance their NJFEA chapters and school communities. All NJFEA chapters are eligible to apply for the Leadership Institute. Up to seven NJFEA chapters will be selected to participate in this inaugural program. Here are the requirements for participation:
Students will plan and implement service projects that will benefit their NJFEA chap-ters and school communities.
Students will be accompanied by their NJFEA chapter adviser or a faculty member from their respective high schools.
All expenses will be paid for students and their chaperones including round trip bus transportation to Camp Bernie from The College of New Jersey, meals, snacks, lodging, and program activities. Funding for the Student Leadership Institute is provided by the New Jersey Education Association. Student participants must be registered by their NJFEA faculty adviser. Students may not register themselves. The online application deadline for the Leadership Institute is Friday, April 27, 2012. NJFEA chapters selected for participation will be provided with comprehensive program information in mid- May. Students, their parents/guardians, and faculty advisers will be invited to attend an evening orientation program at The College of New Jersey in June in preparation for the Leadership Institute.
